Learning Objectives

After completing this continuing education activity you will be able to:

  1. Identify breast milk composition, key benefits, and barriers associated with breastfeeding.
  2. Explain updated breastfeeding guidelines and recommendations from the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) and other leading nursing and professional organizations.
  3. Describe strategies to reduce breastfeeding disparities and assist lactating parents by using a patient-centered approach.

Learning Outcomes

Seventy-fi ve percent of participants will be able to demonstrate an increase in knowledge about breastfeeding management through a patient-centered approach that incorporates new guidelines by achieving a posttest score of 70% or greater.
