Learning Objectives

After completing this continuing education activity you will be able to:

  1. Define key terminology and concepts related to gender diversity and lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, intersex, asexual, two-spirit, and/or other minority sexual and gender identities (LGBTQIA2+).
  2. Describe the unique healthcare needs of and disparities faced by gender-diverse and transgender children and adolescents.
  3. Apply gender-affirming communication strategies and therapies when caring for this population.

Learning Outcomes

By the conclusion of this activity, a majority of the participants will demonstrate knowledge about gender-affirming care for the adolescent patient by achieving a passing score on the posttest.
