Learning Objectives

After completing this continuing education activity you will be able to:

  1. Describe the incidence of workplace violence and the literature review related to its impact on nurses and other healthcare workers in hospital settings.
  2. Identify the rationale and methods used in the authors' study for developing and implementing the behavioral emergency response team (BERT) at their hospital.
  3. Summarize the significance and outcomes of the authors' study and their recommended next steps for reducing hospital workplace violence.

Learning Outcomes

Seventy-five percent of participants will demonstrate knowledge about an interdisciplinary approach to developing and implementing a behavioral response team for mitigating workplace violence by achieving a minimum score of 70% on the outcomes-based posttest.
