After completing this continuing education activity you will be able to:

  1. Identify the benefits and limitations of documenting in electronic health records (EHR) for nurses.
  2. Describe the principles of Kotter's change management model to implement organizational change.
  3. Explain how shared governance and the use of Kotter's Change management model supported the redesign of nursing documentation in the author's quality improvement (QI) study.

Learning Outcomes

Seventy-five percent of participants will demonstrate knowledge about a shared governance approach to nursing documentation with a redesign using Kotter's change management model, achieving a minimum score of 70% on the outcomes-based posttest.
