Learning Objectives

After completing this continuing education activity you will be able to:

  1. Recognize the background information that informed the quality improvement initiative addressing complication rates for patients with advanced PD on levodopa-carbidopa intestinal gel therapy via gastrostomy tube.
  2. Identify the methodology used for the intervention for patients with advanced PD on levodopa-carbidopa intestinal gel therapy via gastrostomy tube.

Learning Outcomes

Seventy-five percent of participants will demonstrate knowledge of a quality improvement initiative that created a standardized education and assessment pathway to enhance self-care and reduce stoma site and tube complications for patients with advanced Parkinson?s disease (PD) and a percutaneous endoscopic gastrostomy tube with jejunal extension by achieving a minimum score of 70% on the outcomes-based posttest.
