After completing this continuing education activity you will be able to:

  1. Select the appropriate feeding information and instructions to give a mother whose newborn has cleft lip/palate.
  2. Identify the preoperative instructions for parents whose child will undergo cleft lip/palate surgery.
  3. Choose the postoperative instructions for parents whose child has undergone cleft lip/palate surgery.

Learning Outcomes

Seventy-five percent of participants will demonstrate competency in clinical reasoning regarding the support of parents through the multiple challenges brought about by cleft lip/palate by achieving a minimum score of 70% on the outcomes-based posttest.
