Learning Objectives

After completing this continuing education activity you will be able to:

  1. Identify appropriate diagnostic studies to identify PE based on validated predictive scores to stratify risk.
  2. Describe appropriate treatment strategies to safely manage acute PE using validated predictive risk stratification to guide decision-making.
  3. Explain the pathophysiology of PE and its role in the ensuing clinical sequelae.

Learning Outcomes

Seventy-five percent of participants will be able to demonstrate an increase in knowledge for using a CHEST mnemonic approach for pulmonary embolism (PE) management by achieving a posttest score of 70% or greater.
