After completing this continuing education activity you will be able to:

  1. Explain the use of CBPR as it relates to treating AI/AN adults with T2DM.
  2. Describe the impact of the Diabetes Prevention Program (DPP) and the Special Diabetes Program for Indians Diabetes Prevention (SDPI-DP) demonstration project in improving the care of AI/AN patients with T2DM.
  3. Identify lifestyle interventions and resources that assist with T2DM management in diverse populations.

Learning Outcomes

Seventy-five percent of participants will be able to demonstrate an increase in knowledge regarding community- based participatory research (CBPR) to improve care for American Indians/Alaska Natives (AI/ANs) with type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) by achieving a posttest score of 70% or greater.
