After completing this continuing education activity you will be able to:

  1. Describe the various types of pulmonary function tests (PFTs), including what the tests measure, rationale for ordering the testing, and contraindications.
  2. Explain procedures for the various PFTs including patient education and preparation for testing.
  3. Analyze results of patient PFTs including identification of patterns, differential diagnoses, and strategies for patient care.

Learning Outcomes

Seventy-five percent of participants will demonstrate competency in clinical reasoning regarding pulmonary function testing by achieving a minimum score of 70% on the outcomes-based posttest.
