Purpose of Activity

To provide registered professional nurses with information to increase their knowledge about current issues affecting emergency nursing practice.

Learning Objectives

After completing this continuing education activity you will be able to:

  1. Summarize the results of a study that examined the resilience of health professionals working in emergency services to identify the relationships of resilience with sociodemographic and work-related characteristics.
  2. Evaluate a study that synthesized qualitative research to provide an enhanced understanding of the lived experiences of emergency nurses caring for patients with mental illness.
  3. Explain the results of a study that examined the relationship among orientation, burnout (emotional exhaustion, depersonalization, and low sense of personal accomplishment), and intent to leave.
  4. Evaluate the methodology and results of a study measuring the differences in observed medication administration time and the corresponding electronic health record documentation time.

Learning Outcomes

Learning Outcome: 75% of participants will demonstrate knowledge of current research related to emergency nursing by achieving a minimum score of 70% on the outcomes-based posttest.
