Purpose of Activity

To provide registered professional nurses with information to increase their knowledge about current issues affecting emergency nursing practice.

Learning Objectives

After completing this continuing education activity you will be able to:

  1. Recall pertinent background information that informed the quality improvement (QI) project examining teach-back and patient satisfaction with discharge information.
  2. Describe the methodology used for the QI project.
  3. Evaluate the results of the QI project and their implications for patient education in the emergency department.

Learning Outcomes

75% of participants will demonstrate knowledge of a quality improvement project examining the relationship between the use of teach-back and patient satisfaction with discharge information by achieving a minimum score of 70% on the outcomes-based posttest.
