To provide registered professional nurses with information to increase their knowledge about current issues affecting emergency nursing practice.

Learning Objectives/Outcomes

After completing this continuing education activity you will be able to:

  1. Evaluate the use of radio-frequency identification devices (RFID) in the emergency department and the relationship between ED occupancy and clinician patient contact time.
  2. Examine the impact of cultural competency training on ED health care team members? knowledge and attitudes toward members of the lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) community.
  3. Evaluate the results of a literature review that examined the topic of pediatric triage education.
  4. Recognize interruptions experienced by emergency nurses, along with subjective and objective workload measures.
