Learning Objectives

After completing this continuing education activity you will be able to:

  1. Apply appropriate hypersensitivity classification and risk stratification categories to patients with penicillin exposure-related allergic reactions.
  2. Identify appropriate interventions for patients with known or suspected penicillin allergies.
  3. Recognize the true extent of penicillin allergy in the general population, the consequences of inappropriately reported allergies, and the circumstances in which allergies can be delabeled.

Learning Outcomes

Seventy-five percent of participants will be able to demonstrate an increase in knowledge about managing penicillin allergies by achieving a posttest score of 70% or greater.
