Learning Objectives

After completing this continuing education activity you will be able to:

  1. Explain the increased risk of chronic medical conditions that occur for patients with serious mental illness (SMI).
  2. Identify appropriate management strategies for patients with SMI who have or are at risk for physical health comorbidities.
  3. Recognize adverse reactions of medications commonly used for treatment of SMI.

Learning Outcomes

Seventy-five percent of participants will be able to demonstrate an increase in knowledge of managing physical healthcare needs in patients with mental illness by achieving a posttest score of 70% or greater.
